Recently I had a head injury and I want to share what I’ve learned. 🙂‍↔️Despite being living tissue, our skulls are extremely hard. I now take being called “hard-headed” as a compliment! I am grateful for its protection. 🙂‍↔️Our brains are also living tissue and I can feel how much it wants to be healthy. From the moment of impact, I could feel everythjng inside as if it were saying, We’re going to be ok. We know how to do this. We will be ok. Sit down, take a breath and let’s do what we do to heal. 🙂‍↔️ Among other things, a head injury can remind you how fragile life can be. I knew I’d be ok, but for about a week the veil between life and the non-embodied realm felt thin. In a good way. I felt love for everyone, grateful for everything, and a deep sense of peace.🙂‍↔️ I am not eating too differently because I always try to eat for health, energy and longevity, which is similar to what the brain needs: Healthy fats and proteins, what Ayurveda would refer to as the Sweet taste, along with all the brassicas. And turmeric with everything. 🙂‍↔️ Brahmi is one of my favorite Ayurvedic herbs. It is good for cognitive function, memory, the nervous system and pitta dosha. I’ve doubled my daily intake.🙂‍↔️ Have also doubled up on ground flax and chia seeds daily. 🙂‍↔️ A supplement I am taking has Brahmi, omegas and Choline. I love that Ayurveda has gone mainstream. I also love the recognition that herbs are more bio-available when combined with healthy fats.🙂‍↔️ I sleep so much. Except when I don’t, like the days surrounding the full moon. Sleep dis-regulation has been a thing. But I am grateful for the reminder to rest. Rest is so healing, and winter such a warm invitation to cuddle in. 🙂‍↔️ Reducing screen time means more nature time. It’s healing to the brain to see beauty.
