Golden Nog
Makes 4 servings
This recipe was shared by Bailey Nolting, for NAMA. It’s a lovely, festive way to get your daily dose of golden turmeric.
Ingredients
1 cup raw cashews
4 pitted medjool dates
1 teaspoon coconut oil or ghee
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
Pinch of pink salt
Optional: Pomegranate
Instructions
Soak cashews in hot water 15 minutes. Rinse until water drains clear. Put cashews in blender with 1 1/2 cups water, and all the rest of the ingredients. Blend on high 3-4 mins depending on blender power.
Blending on high speed for a few minutes will warm the drink. You could also pour it into a pan and bring it to a light simmer, to serve piping hot.
Serve with mint, basil, pomegranate nibs or cinnamon sticks.
Variations: Black pepper (increases heat), ginger (supports digestion), cardamom (balances doshas).
Banyan Botanicals makes Golden Nog easy by combining these ingredients – the turmeric, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon – with a bit of ashwagandha, and just a spoonful of maple sugar to “help the medicine go down.” All you have to do is add the milk and warm it up.

Lovely recipe share! This time of year I love quiet, cozy times at home with family, a warm fire, and good food. The simple pleasures of walking the dog, watching the birds, and sending gifts to those away fill my cup every day.
